The Studio
Our Studio has 3 studios including bathrooms, waiting rooms, homework areas and an office with snack foods/drink to purchase. All studios are air conditioned and heated with mirrors, barres and sprung wooden flooring.
Syllabus
Students will be learning ADA syllabus in tap classes and ballet classes. Modern/contemporary and jazz are an open style class, which means students are offered a variety of exercises and combinations every week.
Annual Concert
All classes (excluding exam and eisteddfod classes) will begin to learn routines in Term 3, and continue rehearsing into Term 4 to perform on stage in front of an audience at our annual concert.
All routines will be choreographed in relation to the concert theme. Costumes will be provided for a hire fee to keep costs to a minimum for parents.
Performance Team
For those students interested, we have a performance team that competes at eisteddfods throughout the year. Eisteddfods that the students compete at will depend on the ever changing COVID 19 situation, although will mainly be across the Central West.
To be a part of our performance team, it is a requirement that students are enrolled in ballet class. Maximum attendance is required for these teams out of fairness to their team mates, and students must be available to attend all eisteddfods. Costumes & headpieces will be provided for a hire fee.
Tap & Ballet Exams
Exam classes are available for those who wish to participate in annual exams. These classes are offered in addition to the age classes, in which students must already be enrolled into. Attendance must be maintained in all classes to be able to enter examinations.
Solo Eisteddfod Lesson
For those students who would love to perform on the stage by themselves – these lessons are for you!
Students must enrol in their ballet class for their age as well as their group performance class.
The amount of routines to learn and the eisteddfods to enter is entirely up to each parent. Costumes can be provided for a hire fee or alternatively parents can purchase their own costumes.
Lil Groovers
JLD Dance Studio is Bathurst’s official location for ‘Lil Groovers’, a preschool hip hop program that is a place for your child to learn an authentic hip hop curriculum and have a blast dancing with their new friends - along with mascots Boomah and Bboy Beatz. With classes multiple times each week, and on the weekends, your little ones have the opportunity to learn, dance, laugh and have fun as they progress naturally through the use of props, Cyphers, freestyling, and sensory fundamentals.
Uniform/Attire
To ensure that teachers are teaching students safely and with correct technique, we ask that students wear form fitting clothing (eg tights, bike shorts, singlets, leotard and stockings). We also ask that hair is kept out of the face. Dance shoes are preferred, but if students do not own them we will require them to dance in bare feet. Dancing in socks is not permitted for safety reasons.
No set uniform is required however we do have the studio uniform for sale through the office. The studio sells tap, ballet, jazz and lyrical dance shoes and stockings for all class and stage needs.
